After a facial treatment, we recommend following these aftercare guidelines to maximize the longevity of your results and prevent possible irritation:
To prevent introducing bacteria to your freshly exfoliated skin, please avoid touching your face with dirty hands. Clean the frames of your glasses, sanitize your headwear, and wear a new face mask if you came in with a disposable one. Wash your makeup brushes and pillow cases when you get home.
You must be SPF compliant after all facial services to protect your freshly exfoliated skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Even if it’s “not sunny outside”, harmful UV rays are still present and your skin will be more vulnerable to its effects. We recommend using a SPF30+ and to reapply every 2-4 hours throughout the day depending on sun exposure.
For the next 24 hours avoid the following to prevent irritation: makeup, prolonged sun exposure, steam, saunas, hot tubs, hot showers, swimming, excessive heat, exercise and sweating. Stick to lukewarm water when cleansing.
For the next 48-72 hours avoid: exfoliation, retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs, waxing/sugaring, shaving.
After any facial treatment, it is normal to experience minor skin purging, which may appear as tiny, pinhead-sized whiteheads. This occurs because increased hydration and cell turnover help bring underlying impurities to the surface, allowing them to clear naturally. During this time, it’s important to avoid touching and picking at the skin to prevent pigmentation, scarring, and the spread of bacteria. If a blemish is ready for extraction, we recommend using two cotton swabs dipped in a mild astringent like witch hazel to gently remove it. Avoid using excessive pressure or fingernails, as this can damage the skin and lead to further irritation.
Remember, 80% of your results depend on a following a consistent home care routine. To maximize your progress, it is essential to use the recommended products and follow your customized skincare plan. Consistency is key to achieving your goals of healthy, glowing skin!
If you are a first time client and unsure where to start, we recommend scheduling a consultation. This allows us to assess your skin, understand your goals, and recommend the best treatment plan for you.
